Paracetamol, also known as Acetaminophen (USAN), is a globally established non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), chemically defined as 4-Acetamidophenol or N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetamide. It is assigned CAS No. 103-90-2, molecular formula C₈H₉NO₂, molecular weight 151.16, and appears as a white to off-white odourless crystalline powder. Commercially it is the reference active in brands such as Tylenol®, Panadol®, Calpol®, Doliprane® and equivalent generic formulations.
